Natural Gas Performance - 1992 to January 2013
There were discussions in late 2007 and again in late 2009 (chart below) to abandon deregulation in Texas or at least to use another index. The price of natural gas was too high (over 12.0 cents per kWh. Thankfully two unexpected companion phenomenons reversed this trend: massive shale gas fields discoveries and two technologies. The later technologies are hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling.
